It's Official, these are our crafts fo Midnight Madness!

Our Midnight Madness will be held on Friday November 4th.  The last day to sign up for projects is Sunday October 30th with the exceptions of the Vinyl countdown blocks and the Joy (with the bell)  Those need to be ordered and we need at least two weeks notice, so those cut offs will be Sunday, October 23rd! PLEASE NOTE Last day for ALL projects is Sunday, October 23rd!

The Hooded Towel Class taught by Hayley.  The class is free but you will need to bring your own supplies which are: A Bath towel, hand towel and wash cloth.  Also 3 yards of matching ribbon and thread.  If you have a sewing machine, please bring that as well, it will make the project go faster!
The Countdown blocks.  We have two options, Birthday and Christmas.  The project fee is $7.00 and will be taught by Brittany. You will be using Modge Podge, paint and vinyl.  Note the earlier cutoff for sign-ups.  10/23/2011 is the last day to sign up for these two projects!
The Simple Nativity, taught by Rose.  The fee is $4.25.  You will be painting sanding and gluing.  Super easy project!
The Christ Book, is $11.00.  This includes a scripture and possibly a story, a song and/or picture for 17 topics.  As well as a CD of all the songs mentioned in the book.  It can be used as a countdown to Christmas or Family Home Evening throughout the year, or as a theme study on the Savior's life.
Crochet Earrings (6 Pair) or Bracelets (2) for $3.30 includes a hook, for each additional set it is $1.10.  This class is taught by Camelia.  It is a beginning crochet class.  You do need to bring your own embroidery floss, one thing of floss will do one set of earrings or one bracelet. These were my first time ever crocheting bracelets.  I will take a picture of the ones Camelia did and update the blog.  They are beautiful!
Oreo Cookie Pops taught by Teri.  It will be $.50 per pop.  It involves candy coating oreos.  Such a fun skill and even more fun is to make them into things like Mickey mouse or a mummy!
Joy the teacher is yet to be decided.  The cost is $8.75.  This involves minor tracing and cutting, painting and Modge Podge. 10/23/2011 is the last day to sign up for this project!

I don't have a picture yet but we will also be doing a File Folder Games class.  This will be a little different because you will not finish this project that night.  You will get 8 games for $11.00 taught by Rebecca.  This includes Velcro, the games printed on Card stock and a file folder.  You will have two weeks to color, cut and paste.  Then on Wednesday November 16th, return them to April and she will take them to Lakeshore Learning and have them heat laminated and returned to you on the following Sunday.

Also not pictured are a few quiet books.  A gospel ABC book, a Book of Mormon Book and a We Believe book, that shares gospel principles.

Midnight Madness Craft Planning

Here are some ideas we were thinking about for our Midnight Madness being held Friday November 4th.  There are bigger pictures and links to the activities below the poll.  Please feel free to add your own ideas as well.  Also when voting consider time and cost.  I am allowing you to vote for 4 projects so take the time and consider which projects you will truly do.  We are looking to narrow it down to 7 projects.

I had to reset the votes because it only allows you to vote one time.  So click all of your votes then submit, you will not be able to vote again.  I apologize for the confusion.

Menu Board
http://www.domessticated.com/2010/11/magnetic-menu-board-my-dos-donts.html this one could be pricey maybe $20-25, (Frame, Magnetic paint paper, magnets for menu items)  Some one suggested it be used for an activity/clanedar planner, so if meal planning is not your thing, there maybe other uses!

Temple/Clock picture board could be as much as $40 we are trying to work out some copyright isuues that would make it cheaper.

Countdown Blocks-can make it for Birthday and Christmas? $11 includes paper and glue.

Simple Nativity
http://learning-to-b-me.blogspot.com/2010/08/flags-and-more-wood.html scroll down to nativity.  Maybe $5.00

Wreath
http://teachcraftlove.blogspot.com/2010/06/front-door-wreaths_22.html with 1 letter we can probably do it for $15) We can either do fabric flowers or Silk flowers

Christbook
http://www.sewdangcutecrafts.com/2010/12/christ-book.html This is a great family gift for parents to children.  It is a countdown/study to Christmas.  I am thinking it could be about $15.  (It includes a binder, 40 page protectors, a song, story, picture and scripture for 17 themes (the entire picture packets for the primary manuals 1 and 2, some of which will be used for the binder the rest can be put in a FHE file or something)

Headbands-simple sewing project (must bring sewing machine)
$2.00 or have them buy their own supplies, thread, fabric and elastic. http://www.happytogethercreates.com/2011/07/double-sided-fabric-headband-pattern.html

Class one of the following
  • pie making-crust? Then we can bake them and serve for dessert that evening.
  • Gifts in a Jar
  • Truffle Making, serve them for dessert for the evening
Any additional thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
